Turbo Monkey Tales is a group blog focusing on the craft, production, marketing and consumption of Children's Literature. We are illustrators, writers, animators and media mongrels. We are readers! We are published, unpublished and self-published; agented and searching, and 100% dedicated to our Kid Lit journey, no matter where we are on the path. Join our Tribe and grab a vine. The more the merrier!

Deciding to be a writer has meant lots of slow dancing with my inner masochist, but along with the challenges have come crazy joy and friendship and meaning. It’s so worth searching for the words and stories that will resonate, and I’m excited to share this journey now with the monkey crew—and you! I’m a mom to four little monkeys of my own and eek out writing time between keeping them groomed and fed and loved. Teaching writing to some of the coolest teens in the jungle helps me bring home the bananas. I’m represented by the wonderful Tracey Adams of Adams Literary and look forward to bringing some middle grade and YA stories of my own into the world soon!

Favorite writers: Mark Twain, Cynthia Lord, John Irving, Kate DiCamillo, Roald Dahl, Sherman Alexie, Harper Lee, Ray Bradbury, J.K. Rowling, Libba Bray, Laurie Halse Anderson, Shaun Tan, and the Monkey Crit Crew, of course.

How I like to monkey around: Find me lurking in bookstores, drinking coffee gone-cold, looking for lost shoes, dreaming of a beach cottage with the perfect window for gazing/plotting, or looking for things my characters would love on Etsy.
